ÖVAEG board meeting: setting the course for the future

Vienna, February 2025 - The Austria United Arab Emirates Association (ÖVAEG) set an important course for the further development of bilateral relations between Austria and the United Arab Emirates at its most recent board meeting at the Buxbaum restaurant. The meeting focused on forward-looking projects, new collaborations and strategic decisions to strengthen international cooperation.




President Hans Niessl emphasized the importance of ÖVAEG as a platform for exchange between the two nations: “Our company acts as a bridge builder between Austria and the United Arab Emirates. The planned initiatives and cooperations will further deepen economic, cultural and diplomatic relations.”

Secretary General Walter J. Gerbautz emphasized the relevance of the planned events and cooperations: “With top-class events and targeted partnerships, we are setting new accents and creating sustainable synergies. ÖVAEG remains a reliable partner for bilateral cooperation.”

During the meeting, Christian Jost was appointed to the ÖVAEG Executive Board. The Advisory Board has also been strengthened by the addition of Elisabeth Zauner, CEO Emirates Austria, and Neda Tahric, CEO CLM. These additions underline ÖVAEG's efforts to further optimize its strategic orientation and expand its networks in a targeted manner.

Another highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the magazine “Society” by Gertrude Tauchhammer. She presented current issues to the members present and provided insights into the editorial focus of the magazine, which deals intensively with international relations and diplomatic topics.



The meeting highlighted ÖVAEG's commitment to actively shaping international relations and promoting sustainable networks. With a large number of planned events and initiatives, the association is optimistic about the future and looks forward to another successful year.
